Thousands of shoppers and spectators came to City Walk Plaza on Friday 23 February to enjoy and take part in the first ever parade celebrating the Spring Festival – also known as the Chinese New Year.
City Walk was turned into a microcosm of mainland China with traditional red paper lanterns decorating the streets and main Plaza around the Roxy Cinema, plus dragon dancing, 30 parading groups comprising of 1,000 Chinese people, the Dubai Police Band and a wide variety of other Chinese entertainment, with the various performances and acts lasting over 2 hours.
Held in partnership with the Consulate General of China, the Dubai Police and Meraas, the Spring Festival is set to break records for the size of the parade, the variety of performances and for being the first Spring Festival parade in the Middle East.
